Travel Checklist When Traveling to Philippines


There is no best season to travel to the Philippines as you will surely enjoy the islands any time of the year. If this is your first time to travel to this country, then you might find these tips that we put together in this post helpful in planning your travel.  These are just suggested things that you may want to bring with you. But most of them are essentials.

Philippine Visa

Nationals from countries listed here who are traveling to the Philippines for business and tourism purposes are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas for a stay not exceeding twenty-one (21) days, provided they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination and their passports valid for a period of at least six (6) months beyond the contemplated period of stay. However, Immigration Officers at ports of entry may exercise their discretion to admit holders of passports valid for at least sixty (60) days beyond the intended period of stay.

Philippine Climate

The Philippines climate is tropical and divided roughly into two distinct seasons, the dry season and the rainy season. However, there are always exceptions to this rule. However, no matter whether you are in the rainy or the dry season you will still have to deal with the ever present heat and humidity. Since the Philippines is made up of 7,107 islands the climate for Philippines can vary considerably from one part to the next.  Thus, when you travel to the Philippines, bring light clothing specially if you’re visiting in summer (March-May). Cotton Tees, shirts, pants and walking shorts are ideal for traveling around.

Time Zone

Philippines Standard Time zone  is 8 hours ahead of GMT.


The Philippines generally uses 220 volts at 60 Hz with U.S. style flat blade attachment plugs (symmetric).


The currency in the Philippines is the Philippine peso divided into 100 centavos. Its international abbreviation is PHP.

Most businesses are open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM weekdays and 8:00 AM till noon Saturdays. Banks are open from 9:00 AM till 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. When banking in the Philippines, it is advisable to have your passport with you for identification.
